A nursery, primary and secondary school on one campus in Jahi. Eighteen children to a class, the same teacher from September to July, and a report written in plain English.
Zamani Academy opened in 2008 with nineteen children in a rented house on the edge of Jahi. We now have four hundred and twelve pupils across three sections on one campus, and we have deliberately stopped growing.
Brothers and sisters are dropped at the same gate, which sounds like a small thing until you have done the Abuja morning run with two schools in opposite directions.
We teach the Nigerian curriculum alongside the British primary framework, and offer IGCSE in the secondary school for families who want it. Neither is treated as the superior one.
Most of what makes a school work is what it refuses to do when money is on the table. Ours are these.
We have turned families away for it. It has cost us real money in a city where every school could fill another twenty seats tomorrow. We have kept doing it because the number is the whole product.
A child who has settled with someone should not start again in January because of staffing. If a teacher leaves, which happens rarely, the head of section takes the class personally until July rather than putting a stranger in front of them.
You get a page about what your child can do now that they could not do in September, and what we are working on next. Grades are in there too, but they are not the point of the document.

Average teacher stay is the one that matters most and the one schools almost never print. Ours is seven years. Ask any school you are considering for theirs, and notice how they answer.

We reply within three working days with a date to come and see the school. Children sit a short assessment on the same visit, so you only come once.
